Question Anyone had the gastric bypass surgery

My friend recently had the gastric bypass and she is excited because she lost 32 lbs in 1 month. She is already off of her diabetes meds and her blood pressure is down to normal.

I don't have diabetes nor any blood pressure issues. I wanted to hire a personal trainer, but both she and my doctor suggested surgery.

Anyone here have any experiences that they would be willing to share?

thanks

Haven't had it myself. Don't need to lose that much so do it the old-fashioned way. I'm definitely a believer that surgery is the LAST resort though. A friend of my sister's had the surgery and ended up having a heartattack a year later. She died and was only in her 30s. The doctors said even though it was a year later that it was a complication of the surgery.

I have 2 friends who have had it. Several years later they are both doing fine. And look great by the way. I don't know if I'd go that route myself, but they are both glad they did. However they still have to watch what they eat. They can eat a hot dog or hamburger, but not the bun. I don't think they can eat any bread at all actually. So I would suggest doing a lot of research on the surgery itself and life afterward before you make a decision.
