Question Teenage Son's Easter Basket

I'm curious what others are filling their teenage (age 15) son's Easter Basket with. Any suggestions?

We have the same problem with our oldest who just turned 13 so we have thought about CD's or DVD's. He also likes to read so books crossed our minds also. We haven't totally decided yet but those are just a few things we were thinking of.

Thanks Kathy. We, too, have the same ideas. Two books that were suggested to us, but not sure our son would welcome them, were a Teen's Guide to Good Manners, which covers all aspect of social life, school life, dating, etc., & the other was on Teen Investing. He loves the stock market, but I haven't gone yet to a bookstore & checked them out. Our tricky part is his birthday is six days after Easter!

How 'bout a small gift certificate?

Or even a few new t-shirts or something?

Model kits and video games are also great ideas.

I was also thinking maybe a gift cert to the local movie theater -- enough to be able to go a couple of times or to treat a friend. Or maybe even a Blockbuster video card -- he can pick the movies or games.

I had to find something also for my 13 year old son. I was going to buy a DVD, but then while walking around Target, I remembered that he saw a nice beach towel that he liked, so I bought that. Then there's candy. I don't do a huge basket because we go over to my mom's and have an Easter Egg Hunt there and the eggs are number 1, 2, 3, 4. Then we have baskets with the same numbers full of prizes in them and the kids take whatever numbered egg to the appropriate basket and pick a prize from that basket. I told my mom that I was hoping to cut down on the number of prizes this year, but I don't think that happened as we have something like 120 prizes total to split between 6 kids. It's fun and the kids don't know what's in the baskets until they get there. I usually buy a lot of prizes throughout the year (starting with the current year's Easter clearance the day after Easter and so on, I love getting the 90% off deals at Target at the different holidays, I also hit the jackpot in the pens/pencils/notepads clearance at Target about a month ago.)

I think Gift Certificates are great.. If you want to go with books a Very good book are the Chicken soup for the teemnage souls.. My son read the Pre-teen one he is only 9 but loved it... That way it is something interesting and not gorey.. But gift certificates you he can have a little more freedom at the bookstore, Music or game store.
