Holiday Gifts for you Wife/Husband/Significant Other

This might not belong here. I thought a thread to post cool gifts for the special person in your life. Even better if there is a deal!!

Ok. The real reason for this thread. My wife tells me she doesn't need anything. I am out of ideas. She is not into Jewlrey. Not that she hates it just not her big thing. She is practical. Any way. I can't be the only person in the world looking for something for the holidays. Post your ideas. Hey maybe we can all help each other.

Well I am the same way, I don't need any more stuff. I would rather do something - dinner, movies, a show, maybe a special weekend. I bet she'd love a little weekend getaway and you can wrap up the brochures for her to open.

in my opinion no woman can resist a "day-spa" gift certificate. Just check in the yellow pages for day spas in your area and give them a call to see what they offer. My husband got me one of those last year (1 hr massage, pedicure, manicure, etc) and I loved it! but please, don't include any hair deal, having your hair done is a very particular choice and we (women) have our preferred hair stylists, so no just anyone will do for that. good luck with your hunt for the "perfect" gift

The best gifts I have ever received from my husband has been the ones which would probably not mean anything to anyone else in the world but me. When I was little I had a doll called "Drowsy Baby". Anyhow, I lost her when I was 5, after we got married we went to a doll show and I saw one. But this one was a redhead, mine was blonde. My husband talked to the dealer at this booth, found out he had a blonde original one at home, paid for it and had it shipped to me. One year he bought me a pair of resin cowboy boots that looked old and weathered because our oldest son (who is now a Marine) always wore cowboy boots when he was little, even with shorts. He bought me a display case (about the size of a 11x13 frame) to display my grandmother's costume jewelry in. Anything from a woman's childhood or from her children's childhood will melt her heart. Or it does mine anyhow.
My youngest son did my father a picture album last year with pictures of my dad and all the grandkids. It took weeks to dig through all the old pics at our house and moms, but my dad cried when he opened it. Aaron also left a couple of pages empty so pictures could be added.
This is awful, I feel like crying now. LOL

Those are all very wonderful and touching gifts.

My wife had broken my wedding toast glass by accident one day. She cried forever about it. We had gotten the glasses in williamsburg in a discount shop. They were not expensive just a routine glass that was probably being closed out.

I took pictures of the one that was left and called the manufacturer. I managed to get someone interested enough to help me identify it. Turns out one of their closeout outlets in newyork had some I mailordered a couple in and had it engraved the same as it was. I put it in the cabinet where the other one was and on our anniversary said why not use our wedding glasses to toast. She looked sad and said she could use hers but Mine was gone remember. I told huh are you sure I don't remember anything about that I walked over and said see its right here.

It had a huge, huge reaction. The look on her face was more a gift for me.

That's just so cool 'box'.....I'm sure your wife was so beyond excited . That's the kind of stuff that means so much more to most us women than anything else. Having our DH's notice the things that are important to us, and making work of hunting down and replacing the glass was very thoughtful.

A 'day-spa' certificate is a good idea, if she's into that kind of stuff. Alot of woman are.

I'm also very pratical...and there are so many cool ideas you can do for a Significant other who doesn't need anything. A week-end get a way is a great idea! Does she have any hobbies or passions that you can focus on??

This is a fun post...I hope other's will add to it and keep it going.

I am not a big jewerly person either, but I love just about anything that my DH buys me from Novica.com I love the personal touch that Novica gives to the gifts, and you feel a real connection with the artist who made your item. You know that it is quality, and you didn't have to pay a very highy marked up price for it.

It is hard to find things she gets excited over. I have never had her not like a present. It actually makes it harder as I never know when I have done well.

I thought of the Spa but she is kind of shy and I don't think she would go for it. She is the kind of women that goes shopping and never buys for herself I want to do something for her. Its hard for me. I am so inclined to get Hi Tech. But I know that is not the way to go.

A trip might be a good idea. You people have got me thinking.
I do want to have something for her to open up though.
Its funny the best way to know if she likes something is to here what she tells her friends.

Hey Box...What area of the country do you live? Is there some special place close by that she's mentioned wanting to see or go? If you can think of a neat place to plan a 'week-end' get-a-way...Plan that out.

Find a really unique place. And then think of a bunch of really cool 'clue' gifts...that you can have wrapped...starting with small ones and then leading up to bigger ones to give her things to open....Things that have to do with where you will be going. And what you may be doing while there. Make the ending gift a nice basket filled with a bottle of your favorite Champaigne, your 'special glasses'...a small box of her favorite chocolates, or gourmet cookies, a nice bottle of her favorite lotion, etc...a hand printed invitation to join you for a romantic week-end and a brochure of where you'll be going.

And you're right...the best way for you men to know how we feel about the things you do for us or give us...is what we tell others. Good Luck

We are in the north eastern part. I like the little presents idea leading up. I need to hit the travel sites. She refuses to fly so I need to find a driving distance one. hmm love the ideas! If anyone needs ideas post you questions also. I don't want to hog the attention. : ) I can help with most tech questions if you need recomendations.

She has mentioned the Carousel dinner theatre in Cleveland Ohio. Its a good drive. We are more toward the east. Not sure what else there is to do there. besides that. I would like for it to be a couple of days.

Anyone from Cleveland?
