I am so sick of telemarketers I could choke! I was counting on this because the service from the phone company to screen out telemarketers isn't even available in our area. Boo, hiss at them.

How does the telemarketers figure they will lose billions when the people that sign up are most likely the ones that wont buy anyway!! Next thing you know they'll make telemarketers a protected group!

Well the good news for people in PA is that we are still protected under PA's do not call list. For others, I guess it's a wait and see thing. Until then, you can always get a TeleZapper to stop telemarketers. Bestbuy.com has the best price I've found, $29.99 with free shipping. It's not as good as the Do Not Call List, but it's better than nothing.

You guys are silly to think that people that are on the no call list aren't the same people who buy things from telemarketers. The reason that everyone hates telemarketers is we are too polite to tell them to **** off. Because of that, we listen to the pitch, and often times it'll work.

My brother used to work as one, and a lot of my friends have done it. They all say the same thing.. you get a person that says no once, and then ends up buying whatever it is.

What they appealed on is kind of silly though.. just delaying the process for a few months. It'll end up passing very soon. I'd give it 2 or 3 months before going out and buying telemarketer zappers... well, unless you're going to want one for all the phone companies and what not that are still going to annoy you.

I'm with Littlered....... I have absolutely 'NO PROBLEM' at all telling them to @^@&*(#&@ OFF!! And more. They're obnoxious, obtrusive and should be stopped.

What they need to have is a list for all of us to join if we "DO" want to be bothered, pestered, annoyed, lied to and taken advantage of...Oh that's right, If they did that "THERE WOULD BE NO LIST!!"

I really think we have a RIGHT not to be called if we don't want to be. I don't have a problem telling them no either, and realize they are just trying to do a job, but I also feel if I haven't given my home number out, unless it's to people I WANT TO RECEIVE CALLS FROM, I shouldn't be called by strangers trying to sell me something, take a survey, or just annoy me trying to change my long distance carrier.

Well, technically, you probably have given your number out... as it's illegal in most states to call unlisted numbers. On top of that, everytime you drop a business card in a fish bowl to win lunch, or give your name and number to a real estate agent or a car dealer, you're signing up for lists. I bet my fake phone number has received a billion calls because of internet stuff (I use the same one everytime)

Your long distance carrier calls will not change with the no call list though.. because you have an ongoing relationship with them, and even when the no call list is put into a effect, they can still call you.

A large majority of people have bought SOMETHING over there phone in there lifetime. Whether that be a change of Long Distance for 50 dollars, or getting a call from a moving company that is affiliated with your real estate agent (Last time you sold your house to move, did you call someone, or did they call you.. doesn't seem like a telemarketing call because they are affiliated with your real estate agent, but that's all it is.. I have a friend that works for a moving company and the no call list is SEVERELY going to affect him.. so much so that he's quitting his job). I bet if you stopped and thought about it, you have bought something from a telemarketer at some time.. despite telling them to f off most of it.
