DealHunting overhaul

We're looking to recreate Dealhunting to include something called "DataFeeds" that we can get from the stores. Basically this will mean you can search for a "Maxtor hard drive" and get a list of all of our stores that carry Maxtor Drives, how much they are, and a direct link to them. A freshened look for the site and menu-system, and possibly some enhanced features.

Are there any features you'd like to see? The world is your oyster as we have an EXCELLENT programmer to help us. Any thoughts?

Here's a snapshot of a design we're looking at. What do you think about it?

Maybe I'm just lazy....

but I'd like to see a button at the bottom of the page that will take you back up to the top of the page. It would be faster than scrolling back up to the top - and fast is always helpful!

It's the only thing I could come up with because this site is soooo awesome!

How about a direct button on the front page that takes you to the new unread posts in the forums (for your username)? I find that that's my most used feature - two clicks is too many right now, lol.

Thumbs up I like it!

Very clean & sleek.
Will we still be able to type in the first letter to "jump down" the list of stores with coupons? There are so many (Thank you, thank you! :-D) that scrolling down a huge list to find VermontTeddyBear or something might end up being annoying.

I also really like the way all of the features in the new design really seem to "work" together, yet remain separate!

Nice Maggie!

I agree with Web1000 about a button to take you to the 'unread' forums...for your username...and also would like to see the forums more 'organized'....maybe 'subtopics' under some of them! Something to make them easier to filter through.

Also love the idea of a 'datafeed.'

I have found that I use the forums for hot deals more than anything else...as long as we still have the forums...I'M THERE.

i like the format of the new "work-in-progress" site. May I perhaps suggest that you see if it's viable to come up with a section (could be a forum) that deals with educating the readers about specific items/topics.

For example, I'm currently looking for diamonds and know a lot about nothing on the topic. Instead of having people post and reply to individual queries time and time again, it would be nice to have a permanent reference point for all the useful questions and answers.

Among other big ticket stuff, I'm currently researching and trying to cut through all the hype:
#1. Plasma or Rear Projection TV
#2. Mortgage Lenders
#3. Beds.
#4. Tires.

dafunda,

That's a great idea. Would you be willing to help create such a section? Content and such. If not, I'm sure we can come up with something.

I have been thinking and maybe if something on the Homepage stated that more deals were to be had in the messages forums that would be great as when I first came upon the site I thought the message forums were just chatting going on and looked what all I found.

Just a thought.
