Question Help!Girls slumber party for 8 & 9year olds!Tomorrow!

My daughter just turned 9 and is having 8 friends from school stay over night. This is the first sleepover and maybe(hopefully) the last!

Does anyone have any simple ideas for games for girls this age?

I have several craft ideas but in desperate need of games for 8 & 9 year old girls!!

Oh I don't envy you! I remember when my daughter had those and I got no sleep at all. They did fun stuff like talking about boys and freezing the underwear of the first person to fall asleep. I think at that age they were still talking about which boy they thought was cute and how stupid boys were. The only other thing I can remember is popcorn and videos. Been a few years.

Seeing the following website made me think of my daughter's own slumber parties and I came back to post and Sue had hit my thought right on the head.

We got very little sleep because they wanted to stay up and giggle almost all night. They watched videos, they popped popcorn, they grazed on junk food supplied.... they fixed each other's hair and wanted to play with some makeup. They played music and danced and sang along. They played some board games. They were busy as little bees. And yep - they talked a lot about boys - how cute some were and how yukky others were. Ahhhhh, she's now a teen and they're still doing some of the same things when they sleep over...... except now they have a computer to mess around on as well.

Anyway - here's another website with some slumber party ideas:

Thank you so much for the web sites and the support!!

I am laughing reading about the parties!! I'm sure that tomorrow night I may not be laughing so hard!!

I am sure that my daughter will have a good time and that is the whole point to the party!! (I'm sure that my husband and myself will also add a few new memories!)

Ohhhh by the way..............my daughter told me that today a boy in her class pucked!! PRAY for us that none of these girls will catch this kids bug and puke at my house!!!!

Lisa hun - I am sure everyone will have a ball!! And you are right - having fun is the whole point and even with minimum sleep for one night, we all still had a lot of fun and laughs. And we created fun memories.

I am and will be praying for a "No Puke" party for you. If anybody's gonna get sick....pleaseeeee wait until ya all get back to your own home!! Thank you verrry much!!! He he he.......

Happy Halloweenie!

Lisa,
You'll have to come back and post afterwards and let us know how it went. And hopefully, none of this

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...................it's now nice and quite with my own 3 kids!(I never thought that I would say it was quite at my house with my kids until after last night)

It was fun for the girls. We had 8 + my daughter. One complained of a headache at about 8:30 turns out that she had a fever of 102 and we had to take her home. I felt really bad for her she really wanted to stay!

All in all it was really fun. We had our share of girl spats!! But for 8 girls together for more than 15 hours they did really well!!!

Getting these energetic and loud ladies to sleep was a different story.!!!Wow was I delusional!! I thought that they would crash after being kept busy but, I was wrong!! We started "going " to sleep at midnight but, I don't think that everyone was asleep until 2:00.

Oh and here is a funny story.....After being home with all of the girls by myself for several hours I ran to the grocery to pick up some ice cream. I was only gone about 10 or 15 minutes. I walk back in the door. The girls are all screaming and crying and my husband looks at me like HELP! I guess that right after I left the BIG blowout happend . so and so called someone a brat and so on and then my drama queen daughter goes outside and runs down the sidewalk bawling because no body is having fun and nobody likes her!! And worst of all her slumber party was ruined!! Honest to goodness girls are hillarious!!

15 minutes later everyone was best friends again and all was well!!!

Most importantly... all is well and OVER!!!!!!!Whew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Not trying to discourage anyone!! I really did have a little fun myself!!!

Oh Lisa, that had me ROFL, brings back so many memories. Glad everyone survived the night. Never ceases to amaze me how girls are so different than boys. All the petty stuff they go through, bickering ect, boys, seems like the just clobber each other and it's over. LOL

Ohhhh....I totally agree with you about the difference between girls and boys!! My son is just as you discribed!! He and his friends get mad and clobber each other and then a little later they are back playing and loving to be buddies again!! Girls on the other hand !!!WHEW!!! They just are so emotional!!

But.........I am so glad that I have a boy and 2 girls I sure get to experience a lot!!

Thanks for that great slumber party report, Lisa...... that made me laugh too and it did bring back tons of memories!! I felt like I was reading a page from my own life. Ha!

And that whole boy and girl thing is so true. The girls get so pouty and dramatic and they start crying and wanting to go home..........the guys just sock each other and stay mad for about 3 seconds and they're back playing again. I guess girls like a bit more drama in their lives - even if it is short-lived!!

I am so glad things went well and that you all had some fun!

I feel a bit bad for the little gal that had to go home with a fever. I had a knack for getting sick whenever parties were planned. I remember missing a Halloween party when I was about 10 years old that just about killed me. I felt like it was so unfair...I mean I was running a "little" fever and my mom wouldn't let me go anyway. I thought she was SO mean!! He he he..... kids are funny!

Then this weekend, my daughter and I are both going through this little crappy flu-like thingee and I am trying to make sure she is taking her meds and such and staying hydrated. And sure enough, her high school Homecoming Dance was this past Saturday night. She sounded so awful (croupy and coughy) and she felt somewhat feverish and my hubby said, "I'm not sure she should be out in the night air..." Which of course caused some panic in my daughter and she was begging us to still let her go......

Wellll, we did let her go..... and she had a ball with her friends and her new boyfriend - so even though she was sick it was all worth it to her. I swear, with kids - there is never a dull moment. And I'm sure once she and I get over this illness, my hubby and son will come down with it next!! Oh myyyy...... Calgon take me away!!

Life sure is never dull with kids!!
I hear that the flu is really making it's way around already!!
I want to make sure that I get the flu shot again this year. As a mom of 3 I cannot be sick!(I also hate to be sick)!!

I hope that you and your daughter are feeling better!!I am glad that she was able to go to her homecomming! Those events seem like such a big deal when you are a teenager!! They are also great memories to look back on!!

I hope that the rest of your family stays healthy!!

Have a great week!!

Lisa

Thanks Lisa sweetie - I appreciate your kindness and well wishes. I am back at work today and she went to school so I think we will be fine. To beat all, they are offering flu shots to our employees this week....all week. I plan on taking advantage of it - definitely. I hate being sick too!!

Hope you have a great week yourself!! And get that flu shot!! And stay healthy!! He he he.....
