IMO, the Leap Pad is great for working parents.
Not every parent is a stay at home Mom. One of my friends teaches elementary school kids and she places the words for objects all around her home for the little ones. No different than a leap pad. When you work, you don't have the luxury of sitting down with flash cards, etc. The leap pad is basically a visual and repititious flash card system. It really does work. The kids click on the words, they hear what the word is, this repitition works. One of my nephews is really bright, but he was having problems vocalizing some words. I bought him the leap pad for Christmas and he has had a vast improvement. It is just a tool, like we had when we were growing up. We just didn't have the technology of today. I'm sure if it were available back in the day, our parents would have certainly taken advantage of it. |
