daylight is saved in the summer, actually...
Not to get too technical but the "daylight" being saved, is saved in the summer. We are now back on "standard" time. If we didn't have daylight savings time in the summer months, darkness would ALWAYS come an hour earlier. But people need more time for sports, mowing their lawn, etc. in the summer and that's why. The farther north you get, the less likely you are to need to mow your lawn or play baseball or do other things outdoors in winter although I guess there's always ice hockey, ha ha!
If you dislike long winter nights, the thing to do is to move to a more southerly location. For instance, in the island nation of Trinidad and Tobago, since it is near the equator, there is never any need for daylight savings time, since the days and nights are very close to being 12 hours long all year round.
:-)
Wondering if I can finance a move to a tropical island nation with all of my dealhunting savings...!
