Processor Recommendation

What's a good quality socket (as opposed to a slot) processor?

It really depends on what you're looking for.

If you're a hardcore gamer, looking to overclock and max it out as much as possible, go AMD.

If you're an average user looking for power, go Pentium 4.

Thank you.

Would definitely get an AMD Duron or Thunderbird. But there's various socket types available & don't know which one performs better over the long run. For example, there's Socket A, Socket 7, and also see some K6-2?, etc. Definitely do not want a slot processor.
